Allen Hughes was a 1980 Allen East graduate
Allen Lynn Hughes, 52, died on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at 7:22 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima, Ohio.
He was born on Aug. 31, 1961 in Lima, to Phillip and Diana (Wheeler) Hughes. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Harrod. On Jan. 31, 1987 he married Marcy (Coates) and she survives in Harrod. He is also preceded in death by grandparents Weiser (Bud) and Vida (Smith) Hughes and Victor and Maxine Wheeler.
He formerly worked with his father at Hughes Plumbing and Heating, Inc. from a young age until 1985, when he began Allen Hughes Septic Tank Service, Inc. He was a member of the Harrod Christian Church. He was a 1980 graduate of Allen East High School. He was an active member of the Harrod Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as a trustee and captain for many years. He was a supporting member of the Allen East Moms & Dads Club.
Also surviving are two sons: Chad Hughes of Harrod and Chase Hughes at home; two brothers: Doug (Paula) Hughes and Dana Hughes both of Harrod; a sister, Dena (Duane) Hedrick of Lima; father and mother-in-law, Roger and Marcille Coates of West Newton; brother-in-law, Greg Coates of Harrod; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dale and Sherry Wilson of Waynesfield; as well as, 2 nieces and 7 nephews.
A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, at Lima First Assembly of God Church on State Route 81 (1660 Findlay Road, Lima) with Pastor Randy Davis officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Westminster.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014 and 2 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Memorial contributions can be made to Harrod Volunteer Fire Department.
