This year will be an active one for the Buy Ada First committee. The ad hoc committee has several ideas for promoting Ada in 2014.

Among those includes:
• Buy Ada First Night at ONU Men’s Basketball vs. Wilmington – Jan. 22, 2014 

• Continuation of Ada’s “Cash Mob” – first one Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014 (details coming)
• Expansion of “Music on Main” this summer
• Soup Cook-off this fall (in conjunction with the Halloween parade)

Tentative “Music on Main” dates are the Friday evenings of June 13 and July 11 at the Ada Depot.

“Details on these and other programs will be announced soon,” according to Heather Cox of the group.

“2013 was a successful year and were encouraged by the participation from the community. We expanded the Music on Main events and hope to make them bigger and better this year.  Last year was the first year for the Soup Cook-off and it was very successful. We hope to keep the momentum going this year to raise awareness to shop locally,” she said.

The next meeting of the committee is at 8 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Northern on Main.
