Academic Booster project

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN AND CHECK OUT 10 PHOTOS SHOWING THE WALL UNVEILING -
FROM ADA BULLDOGS FACEBOOK - Ada elementary students walked past this “covered up” wall long enough to begin to wonder what’s behind the cover.

The answer was revealed on Friday. It’s an elementary honor wall. And, helping to remove the covering included several elementary honor roll students.

The Ada Academic Boosters' financial assistance made the wall possible. It is located outside the elementary office.

Ada fourth graders who met the reading challenge recognized at ONU men's game

Here’s an Ada tradition worth reading about.

Ada fourth graders for several years have taken the Books with Benz reading incentive. “Benz” is really Rich Bensman, ONU men’s basketball coach.

Each fall Coach Bensman and several players on the ONU men’s team visit Ada fourth graders. The visit emphasizes the importance of reading.

Books with Benz reading incentive inspires fourth graders to read.  In a men’s game, earlier this week, students who met or exceeded the reading challenge were recognized at halftime after getting into the game free. And, of course, special reading shirts come with the incentive – and the fourth graders are wearing them in the photo.

The American Red Cross North Central Ohio Chapter responded to an apartment fire on South Main Street in Kenton on Saturday.

The Red Cross provided assistance for the immediate needs of the families affected, such as temporary lodging, food and clothing.

“We’re deeply saddened for those who were impacted by this fire,” said Todd James, Executive Director, North Central Ohio Chapter. “As we continue to help them, we urge everyone to take steps to minimize the risk of a fire occurring in their home.”
