The Ada Schools will have parent-teacher conferences for students in grades K-12 on Monday, Nov. 20 from 4 until 8:30p.m. and on Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Students will only attend school on Monday, Nov. 20that week.   There will not be school on Nov.  21 or 22 for conferences or Nov. 23 and Nov. 24 for Thanksgiving Break.

Elementary conferences will be student-led.  Parents should bring their child with them so that the student, along with his or her teacher, can share information about this year’s progress. Parents had the opportunity to sign up for conference times at open house.

Nearly 80 ONU students and 22 children in the cast

A holiday tradition continues with upcoming performances of Ohio Northern University’s 23rd annual “ONU Holiday Spectacular” musical extravaganza.

The show will be presented in ONU’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 16, Nov. 17 and Nov.18, with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on Nov. 18.

It also will be presented at the Lima Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1 and Dec. 2, with matinee performances at 2 p.m. on Dec. 2 and Sunday, Dec. 3.

Ceremony moved to Presser Hall, 11 a.m., Friday

Wynn Hauenstein of Ada will deliver remarks during a Veterans Day wreath-laying ceremony at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, in a ceremony moved to Presser Hall on the ONU campus.

He will discuss what Veterans Day means to him, share his experiences from his service during the Vietnam War, and talk about how the war was viewed back home.

The Ohio Northern University men’s and women’s choruses will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10 in the Presser Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

 

The Women's Chorus, directed by Marilyn Roth Basinger, instructor in music, will perform a variety of pieces, including “Evermore” from “Beauty and the Beast.” 

 

The Men's Chorus, directed by Christopher Larsen, director of choral activities, will perform several pieces, one of which will feature soloist Adriane Thompson Bradshaw, vice president for student affairs, in “Still I Rise.”

OhioMeansJobs Hardin County will host a mini job fair  on Wednesday, Nov. 15 from noon until 3 p.m. at 175 W. Franklin St. in Kenton.

Help on writing or updating a resume will be provided to job seekers prior to the event from 10 a.m. until noon.

Participating companies include International Paper, MPW, Walmart and Shoe Sensation. Door prizes will also be given away at the event.
