Anna Mary Titus Shanks was 4-H advisor for over 25 years
Anna Mary Titus Shanks, 96, died on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 1:31 p.m. at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus.
She was born on September 12, 1917 in Johnston, Ohio to Walter A. and Edith (McCamey) Titus and they preceded her in death. On August 2, 1939 she married Robert S. Shanks and he died on January 9, 1991.
Anna Mary was a homemaker. She was a member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, Ada, and the United Methodist Women. She had a teaching certificate from Kent State University. Anna Mary was a 4-H advisor for over 25 years and was a member of the Farm Bureau Council #13. She was a charter member of the Hardin County Home Demonstration organization. She held leadership roles in many community clubs and organizations.
She is survived by three children, Mary Catherine Rosen of Columbus, Thomas G.Shanks of San Diego, Calif., and Richard S. (Robin) Shanks of Modesto, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Edie Black, Mace Rosen, Jessica Shanks (Land), Naomi Shanks, Roya Shanks, Kimberly Soderlund, and Ryan Shanks; and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert W. Titus and H. Gordon Titus.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 27, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Pastor Courtnie Morton officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, Ada, and/or the Ada Public Library.
