Donald Zimmerly was a 1952 Ada High School graduate
Donavin D. "Don" Zimmerly, 79, died on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 2:10 a.m. at his residence in Ada.
He was born on April 1, 1934 in Lima, Ohio to Glenn L. and Helen J. (Allstetter) Zimmerly and they preceded him in death. On September 20, 1953 he married Dorothy L. Jump and she survives in Ada.
After graduation, Don started working at Order's Plumbing & Heating of Ada and then he worked at Churchill Construction Co. as an asphalt plant operator. Don's hobby was farming his 20 acres. He retired in 2000 from Shelly Materials, where he worked as plant supervisor. He was a member of the County Line Church of the Brethren, rural Ada and the Deacon Body. He was active with the food pantry for several years. He was a 1952 Graduate of Ada High School.
Also surviving are a son, Kenneth (Amy) Zimmerly of Ada; three daughters: Vicki Lombardo of Coldwater, Mich., Sherri (Joe) Scott of Plain City and Kathi (Rory) Sexton of Lima; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren; three sisters: Marjorie (Ron) McKee of Ada, Karen (Luis) Avila of Russells Point and Sharon Kipker of Lewistown; and 21 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Daryl A. Zimmerly; two brothers: G. Eugene Zimmerly and Robert L. Zimmerly.
Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 14 at County Line Church of the Brethren, rural Ada with Pastor Thomas Dearth officiating. Burial will be in Dola Cemetery, Dola.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 13 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
