Robert Neumeier, 1923-2014
Robert L. "Bob" Neumeier, 90, died on Wednesday, April 09, 2014, at 2:45 a.m. at Van Wert Community Health Professionals Hospice, Van Wert.
He was born on August 7, 1923, in Lima, Ohio to Aloise and Anna (Prochaska) Neumeier and they preceded him in death. On September 3, 1954, he married M. Jeanette Long and she died on July 31, 2006.
Bob retired from Westinghouse, Lima after 38 years, where he was an office machine repairman. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during WWII, when he was a Purple Heart recipient. He also served during the Korean War. He played guitar in his band, The Tune Toppers, at nursing homes and county fairs. He also played in the senior citizens band. He participated in the Honor Flight. He was a member of the VFW Post #1275 of Lima and the American Legion Post #96 of Lima.
Surviving are four sons, John (Vicki) Neumeier of Maria Stein, Dennis (Bev) Neumeier of LaFayette, Mike Neumeier of Ada and Jim Neumeier of Lima; nine grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shari Hicks; a granddaughter, Sarah Neumeier; a brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada. Burial will be in Fisher Cemetery, LaFayette. Graveside military service will be held by the VFW Post #1275 of Lima Honor Guard.
