Jerry Fagan, 1932-2014
Jerome "Jerry" Fagan, 81, died on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 10:25 p.m. at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born on October 16, 1932 in Sidney, Ohio, to Raymond and Leona (Schafer) Fagan and they preceded him in death. On July 21, 1956 he married Verna M. Ballard and she died on September 11, 1987. On April 9, 1988 he then married Esther (Nichols) Young and she survives in Kenton, Ohio.
Jerry retired from Ford Motor Company of Lima after working for 33 years as a tool and die hardner. He was a member of the Ada Full Gospel Church of God. He was a 1951 graduate of Waynesfield High School. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served on the USS Hancock and the USS Ticonderoga during the Korean War.
Surviving are a son, Michael Fagan of Bellefontaine; three daughters, Patty (Larry) Good of Lima; Peggy (Dan) Holbrook of Wapakoneta and Kathy (Fred) Rowe of Wapakoneta; two step daughters, Gloria Lawson of Marion and Karen (Fred) Rarey of Kenton; twelve grandchildren, three step grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and five step great grandchildren; a sister, Wanda Shroyer of Sidney.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Wallace Fagan and a sister, Gwen Barnes.
A funeral service was held on Monday, May 19 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada with Pastor Dan Holbrook officiating. Burial was to be in Preston Cemetery, Alger with graveside military rites conducted by the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choosing.
