By Andrew Korba
Junior Nathan Rosenbaum has been named First Team Capital One Academic All-America in cross country/track & field, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
This is the first time that Rosenbaum, a mechanical engineering major, has earned Academic All-America honors.
During the cross country season, he earned First Team All-OAC honors with a third place finish at the OAC Championships. He also earned All-Great Lakes Region honors with a eighth place finish.
Rosenbaum was awarded the prestigious Elite 89 Award, which is presented to the student/athlete with the highest grade point average at each NCAA Championship event, at the NCAA III Cross Country Championships. He is the third student/athlete to win the award in school history.
In the track season, he captured OAC titles in the indoor 5,000-meter run and outdoor 10,000-meter run.
In addition, he broke the school record in the indoor 5,000-meter run and was named Academic All-OAC.
Rosenbaum is the second Polar Bear to earn First Team Capital One Academic All-America honors, joining junior wrestler Cody Lovejoy.
