University pharmacy student awarded Good Neighbor Pharmacy Scholarship
Ohio Northern University student Nicholas Newman, a sixth-year pharmacy major from London, Ohio, has been awarded the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Scholarship.
In 2010, ONU partnered with AmerisourceBergen Corporation to create the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Endowed Scholarship Fund, which is available to ONU pharmacy students seeking careers in retail community pharmacy.
For scholarship consideration, pharmacy students must show an interest in practicing in a community retail setting and be an active member of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) student organization.
In addition to being a member of the ONU chapter of NCPA, Newman, a two-year letter-winner in football for ONU, is a member of the Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the Personalized Medicine Coalition. As a member of NCPA, Newman helped coordinate outreach events for students with local independent pharmacies and was responsible for the training of all students who wished to participate in local outreach events.
