The last meeting of the Hardin Co. Hootenannies was at Meadow and Callie Cromer’s farm. President Megan Williams opened and asked Levi Beiler to lead the American Pledge and Laura Spradlin to lead the 4-H Pledge.  There were 12 members present, many parents and one special guest.

Everyone was reminded about livestock judging and asked if they needed any last minute help.  It is important to have your books completed.

Our sign for the fair is closer to being done.  Different goats are being painted on the 4-H clover.  The wonderful artist, Sara Hoenshel, who is going to be painting them, was there to meet us.

We also discussed ideas for the fair booth for this year and want to highlight the honor the Cromer family was given this past spring.  Parent Amy Williams will again head the decoration committee. 

Sean Hurley gave a presentation on snakes.  He gave examples of what to do if you encounter a snake.  Meadow Cromer shared with the club members about her family’s trip to Kansas to accept the farm honor they received.

We worked with goats and practiced showmanship techniques.  Older members were helping the younger members. Everyone was encouraged to work on these skills and we will go over them again at Faith Holbrook’s farm on the 24th.

Refreshments were served by the Cromers.  They were delicious.

Our next meeting is this coming Sunday, Aug 10 at 4 p.m.  It will be at Megan William’s farm.  We will have a cook-out.  It is important for everyone to be there to get signed up for the fair.  The entries need to have all the animals you are taking with their ear tag numbers or tattoos.  Everyone was reminded the animals need their scrapies tag.   At this meeting, Riley Fleece and Megan Williams will give their health and safety talks.
