At the October 30 meeting of the Ada Schools board of education, there was a relatively full house of staff and four school board candidates present for the meeting. 

Jon William Rex, age 82, of Harrod, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 1:59 p.m. at Kindred Hospital, Lima. 

He was born on June 6, 1941 in Lima, Ohio to the late W. Ralph and Frances L. (Blank) Rex.  On December 3, 1961, Jon married Diana C. Richardson and she survives in Harrod.

The Ada High School girls soccer team placed four players on all-district teams in voting recently conducted by the Northwest Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association.

Ada finished 8-7-3 overall to set a program mark for wins in a season. The Bulldogs advanced to the sectional finals before losing to top seed Van Buren.

Ada senior scoring ace forward Ella Marshall was voted first team all-district for Division III. 

Marshall broke her own Ada program single-season record with 22 goals, and set the mark for career goals with 51. She also tied the Lady Bulldog season assist record this year with 13.

She averaged 1.6 goals and 0.9 assists per game.

Unselfish senior forward Olivia Burkhart was voted honorable mention all-district. (Continues)

The November 7 general election will present the following ballot items to voters in the Ada School district, the Village of Ada and Liberty Township.There are multiple candidates for mayor and school board seats, while two council incumbents are running unopposed. Ohio Issues 1 and 2 regarding an abortion and reproductive rights amendment and the legalization of marajuana are expected to interest voters.

Voters in Ada North and South precincts vote at Ada Community Health Professionals, 1200 S Main St. Voters in the Liberty Twp. precinct vote at The Centre on Central, 111 Central Avenue.

Polling hours are 6:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m.

The board of the Ada Exempted Village Schools has scheduled a Special Board Of Education meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7. The meeting will be held in the boardroom at  725 West North Avenue. The agenda includes: HVAC Project and, as New Business, buildings and grounds. At the Monday, October 30 meeting, the new need for a second preschool classroom was introduced. Existing needs are storage for larger buses and storage/digitization of permanent records. Board members now include Matt Fisher, who was appointed to fill a seat through the end of 2023 .
