David Greene of National Public Radio will have a book signing and will speak about his journey into the heart of Russia from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Jeanne’s Kitchen, 112 Vine St., Bluffton.

Greene is host of NPR’s Morning Edition and former NPR foreign correspondent based in Moscow. He is also the son-in-law of Ada residents Peter and Jeanne Previte.

Greene’s book “Midnight to Siberia,” was recently released and is on the New York Times best seller’s list. Copies of his book will be available for sale during the evening.

For two years prior to taking on his current role in 2012, he was an NPR foreign correspondent based in Moscow covering the region from Ukraine and the Baltics, east to Siberia.

During that time he brought NPR listeners stories as wide ranging as Chernobyl 25 years later and Beatles-singing Russian Babushkas.

He spent a month in Libya reporting stories in the most difficult of circumstances as NATO bombs fell on Tripoli. He was honored with the 2011 Daniel Schorr Journalism Prize from WBUR and Boston University for that coverage of the Arab Spring.

According to Jeanne Previte the event is free and open to the public. Russian appetizers and beverages will be served.

Greene’s wife, Rose, is the oldest of the Previte’s four children. She owns Compass Rose Bar and Kitchen, an award-winning restaurant in Washington, D.C.

"Midnight to Siberia"
Green’s book describes his travels along the Trans-Siberian Railroad, from Moscow to Vladivostok, describing the people he met, from singing babushkas to entrepreneurial teens to political activists, and discusses the challenges faced by 21st-century Russia.
