Ohio Northern University presents instrumental ensembles concert tonight
The Ohio Northern University Department of Music presents an instrumental ensembles concert in the Snyder Recital Hall in the Presser Building at 8 p.m. today. The event is free and open to the public.
The concert will feature several instrumental ensembles in a wide variety of music. To open the program in a spirited fashion, Dale Laukhuf, low brass instructor at ONU, will present the ONU Brass Ensemble performing “Ceremonial Music” by William Mac Davis.
Following the brass ensemble, Lucinda Altsteatter, flute instructor at ONU, will lead the ONU Woodwind Choir in Offenbach’s rousing “La Belle Helene Overture” and the flute choir in two beautiful pieces – Faure’s “Pavane” and a new work by Nishimura called “Wordless Songs.”
The concert will close with two selections by the ONU Percussion Ensemble led by Sarah Waters, percussion instructor at ONU. They will perform Nathan Daughtrey’s “Shock Factor” directed by Nathan Pax, a senior electrical engineering major from Piqua, Ohio, and then close the concert with Tom Gauger’s “Celebration,” which takes the audience on a joyous trip around the music world.
