Tessie Chalfin was a custodian at USV for 25 years
Tessie L. Chalfin, 88, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at 2:40 p.m. at the Lima Memorial Health System, Lima, Ohio.
She was born on May 24, 1926, to Bryan and Cleo (Streets) Armentrout who preceded her in death.
On June 13, 1946, she married Floyd W. Chalfin and he died Nov. 1, 2003.
She was a custodian at the Upper Scioto Valley Schools for over 25 years. She was a life member of the Roundhead VFW Post #3382 Ladies Auxiliary. She attended the McGuffey Church of Christ.
Surviving are a son, Anthony “Tony” (Ginger) Chalfin of Pinetop, Ariz.; 3 daughters, Bonnie Winder of Pioneer, Barbara (Terry) Castle of Ada, and Patti Iles of Cape Coral, Fla.; a son-in-law, Dwayne Smith of Pinetop, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Smith, and 2 sons-in-law, Gary Iles and Bill Winder.
A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger with Rev. James Goldsmith officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.
Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger and until the time of service on Thursday.
Memorial contributions can be made to Putnam County Hospice.
