Claudia Crawford spoke on Community Health Professionals.

This hospice care program was started by Claudia’s mother in Van Wert in the early 1980’s.

Hospice care provides service for people who are terminally ill.

Claudia discussed several myths on hospice care and what is really the case of what hospice involves.  Hospice care is covered by insurance and Medicare and is usually processed very quickly.

Hospice care doesn’t mean cancer:  it covers all illnesses in which a person has a terminal diagnosis for six months to live.  Hospice can be contacted in advance of a person’s final days, as soon as a family thinks that they will need assistance down the road.

The Community Health Professionals’ visiting nurses and physical therapists can help in the management of a grave illness.  Hospice services are provided in people’s homes, as support to the family members who are providing care for the person who is ill.

Community Health Professionals also has in-patient hospice facilities in Van Wert and in Defiance.  Hospice care isn’t just a one-time matter:  If a person’s medical condition improves, they can come off of hospice care.  Claudia highly encouraged anyone to call Community Health Professionals at 419-634-7443 or look them up at comhealthpro.org.
