Ruby Campbell was a cook at USV for more than 30 years

Ruby E. Campbell, age 81, died on Monday, February 16, 2015 at 5:40 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.

She was born on February 25, 1933 in Hardin County, Ohio to Lester “Red” and Dora (Kindle) Preston and they preceded her in death. On August 2, 1952 she married Bradley Campbell and he survives in Alger.

Ruby retired from Upper Scioto Valley Schools where she was a cook for over 30 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Alger. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors, Alger, and a former member of the Three Arts Club of Alger. She loved cooking and enjoyed cooking for the USV Lions Club for many years. Ruby was an avid OSU Buckeyes and Cleveland Indians fan. She loved her family and will be greatly missed by all.

Also surviving are two sons; Barry (Joyce) Campbell and Doug Campbell both of Alger; a son-in-law Robert (Beverly) Spencer also of Alger; 7 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, and 5 Great Great Grandchildren; a sister Ruth (George) Jenkins of Brown City, MI.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Spencer; a brother, Daniel Preston; and a sister, Evelyn Spencer.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday Feb. 20 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger with Rev. Calvin Waugh and Rev. Andrew Burns officiating. Burial will follow Preston Cemetery, Alger. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, at the funeral home and until time of service Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alger First United Methodist Church, or Hardin Hills Nursing Home Activity Fund.
