Betty Fitzpatrick was Ada village clerk for 20 years

Betty Fitzpatrick, 79, of Alger died Sunday March 29, 2015 at 11:19 p.m. at The Toledo Hospital, Toledo, Ohio.

She was born Dec. 1, 1935 in Rushylvania, Ohio, to William Patterson and Vera (Clay) Patterson McIntosh, and they are deceased. She married Joe Fitzpatrick on Dec. 10, 1954, and he survives in Alger.

She formerly worked as a clerk for Knowlton Construction Company in Bellefontaine and then as clerk for the Village of Ada for nearly 20 years.

Finally, she was clerk for the village of Alger for 10 years. She was presently an Alger village councilwoman. She loved to garden and crochet. She was a quilt maker. She was a very active member of the Alger Community Center. She was a member of the former Order of Eastern Star Chapter #6. She and her husband were members of the Hix & Chix square dance club. 

Also surviving are: a son, Kevin (Carol) Fitzpatrick of Carlisle, Pa.; two daughters, Brenda (Rick) Clouse of Marysville and Chanda (Mark) Garmon of Forest; half brother, Howard “Sonny” (Dee) McIntosh of Belle Center; half sisters, Sue (John) Hurley of Lewistown and Patty (Ronnie) Royer of Florida; and six grandchildren, Brant Fitzpatrick, Kelsey Garmon, Kendrick Garmon, Ryan Clouse, Mason Garmon, and Aubrey Clouse.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday April 2,  at 1:30 p.m. at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Rev. David Trusty officiating. Burial will follow in Preston Cemetery, Alger.

Friends may call on Wednesday April 1, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alger Community Center.
