Polar Bears exit spring break with 7-1 mark

The Ohio Northern baseball wrapped up their Spring Break trip with a 1-0, 6-2 double header sweep of Monmouth (Ill.) 1-0 Saturday in the Gene Cusic Classic at the Player Development Complex.
The Polar Bears move to 7-1, while the Scots are 0-2.
Freshman Braydon Focht hit a sac fly with one out in the bottom of the sixth to score senior Jack LaMarca and break a scoreless tie to record the game's only run.
Junior Nick Eltzroth (2-0) threw 6.2 scoreless innings to earn the win and freshman
Freshman Zach Foster got the final out to record his first career save.
In Game 2, Senior Dan Belliveau drilled a grand slam, his second of the season, in the top of the third to give the Polar Bears a 4-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth, junior Nick Guitar led off with a triple and scored on a long sac fly by freshman Matthew Mattheas to put ONU up 5-1.
Belliveau singled and later scored on a ground out by Eltzroth to make it 6-1 in the eighth.
Junior Alex Crabtree improved to 2-0 with the victory, allowing only one run in six innings.
Freshman Jordan Bostater came in with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth and got the final three outs to record his first career save.
The Polar Bears will return to action March 14 with a double header at Trine (Ind.)
