Comes to ONU from Lourdes University, Sylvania

Dr. Holly Lynn Baumgartner is the new dean of the ONU Getty College of Arts & Sciences.

She earned her BA magna cum laude in English literature/classical studies from the University of Toledo, her MA in American culture studies from Bowling Green State University and her Ph.D. in English from Bowling Green State University.

She was previously the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Lourdes University in Sylvania, Ohio. Dr. Tena Roepke served as interim dean last year.

How do you spell USA? These kids enjoyed an Independence Day meal of hamburgers and hotdogs for lunch at the Ada War Memorial Park on Thursday. The celebration, replete with decorations and a traditional holiday meal, occurred a few days after the 4th because plans were rained out last week. 31,500 people viewed Ada Icon stories in first 6 months of 2017

The results are in: the Ada Icon continues to gain readers at a phenomenal pace.

In the first six months of this year, 31,500 people viewed Ada Icon stories, up 34 percent to compared a year ago. Our viewers read 135,000 pages, an increase of 38 percent.

Fred Steiner, owner of this online newspaper, said, "We strive to serve the Ada community, and beyond, with important information whether it be government, sports, campus, school, civic groups, library, ReStore, churches, even crime."

Melina Woods' team wins 44th AAU 17 Premier Junior National VB title

Ada High School senior, Melina Woods, plays on Elite VBTC 17 Black, which recently won the 44th AAU 17 Premier Junior National Volleyball Championship held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando.

Elite claimed the title from among the 104 teams in its division after defeating MVA (Michigan) 17 Black in the championship match in three sets (16-25, 25-18, 15-8).  During the four day tournament, Elite also beat teams from Virginia, Texas, California, North Carolina, Colorado, Illinois and Kentucky.
