This year’s Citizen Sheriff’s Academy is slated for March 8-April 26 with weekly meetings held on Thursdays from 6-8:30 pm. The Academy is designed to provide a working knowledge of the Hardin County sheriff’s office.
Academy instructors will explain and demonstrate the various aspects of the sheriff’s responsibilities using classroom discussions and hands-on participation.
Those 18 years old or older may apply at the sheriff’s office beginning Feb. 14. Cost is $30. For more information, call Chief Deputy Dennis Burns at 419- 673-1268 Ext. 2144.
Saturday's Matches: The Ohio Northern men's tennis team will open up its Spring schedule with a pair of matches on Saturday at Albion ... ALLENDALE, Mich. — A week after posting the third fastest time in the 800-meter run in Div. III history, Ohio Northern senior Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) posted another historical feat as she broke the all-time Div. III record in the event at the Grand Valley State (Mich.) Big Meet on Friday evening.
Richards broke the previous record set in 2013 by Wis.-Oshkosh's Christy Cazzola by nearly half a second. The senior also broke her own school record for the second consecutive week after finishing in a record 2:05.28.
ALLENDALE, Mich. — Senior Matt Molinaro (Sterling Heights, Mich./DeLaSalle) had a historical day for the Ohio Northern men's indoor track and field team to lead a trio of Polar Bears at the Big Meet hosted by Grand Valley State University on Friday evening.
Molinaro broke former All-American and 3-time National Champion Jimmy O'Brien's 9-year-old school record time of 1:50.60 in the 800-meter run after winning the event in 1:50.23.

There will be a silent auction, live auction, and raffle at the law college on Friday, Feb. 16. Since 1994, $140,000 has been raised to assist law students who work in unpaid public interest legal positions during the summer.
Campus and community members are invited to bid and buy raffle tickets at Tilton Law Building. The silent auction runs from 9-12:30, lunch from 11:30-12:30, live auction begins at 12:30.
Raffle items, which will be drawn throughout the day, have been donated by local restaurants and businesses.
