Catherine "Kitty" Freed, 90, of Ada, died in her home on Nov. 25, 2016.
Catherine was first lady of Ohio Northern University for 20 years, from 1979 to 1999, when her husband, DeBow, served as president. She continued to be a strong supporter of ONU after this. She held a BA and BFA from the University of Texas, an MA from the University of Kansas; and an honorary doctorate from Ohio Northern University.

Twenty vendors have signed up to be at Vancrest of Ada's first annual holiday Craft Fair to be held Saturday, Dec. 10.
The new nursing home, retirement center, rehab facility is pleased with the number of vendors reserving spaces for the fair. Buyers will find crafts from barn siding, painted gourds, LuLaRoe clothing, baked goods, candles, makeup products, and more.
Ed Skidmore, age 69, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 26, 2016 leaving behind his wife Charlotte of 48 years, a son, Michael and a daughter, Lisa both of Cleveland. He passed at the Hospice of the Western Reserve, Cleveland. He was very brave in the 20 month struggle with his cancer.
He was born on January 9, 1947 in Kenton, Ohio to the late James Kenneth and Martha (Lowery) Skidmore. He was preceded in death by his brother, Clifford Skidmore.

The Columbus Zoo, or at least part of it, came to Ada Tuesday for a joint meeting of the Ada Rotary and Kiwanis service clubs at The Inn.
Fifty club members, their spouses, and children saw four cute, cuddle critters up close and personal.
Here, a one-year-old joey is petted, feeling surprisingly soft considering kangaroos have have one of the toughest hides. He's in a pouch (albeit a manmade one) because baby kangaroos feel more comfortable in a pouch since that's where they begin life.

ReStore served up turkey, ham, and all of the trimmings to 168 diners during their annual Thanksgiving dinner Tuesday at their community center at 210 N. Main.
The food as prepared by Team Turkey (Anita Dearth and friends) and paid for by the Ada Lions Club.
Thanksgiving at ReStore is a time for all to have a wonderful meal and socialize with friends and neighbors in the community.
