The Hardin Soil and Water Conservation District will be holding its election of supervisors at the 75th Annual Meeting which is held in conjunction with Customer Appreciation Day on Thursday, August 17, 2023.

This event is from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the shelter house north of the Community Building, at the Hardin County Fairgrounds, Kenton. A catered barbecue meal will be served from 5:00-6:00 p.m.

Voting will take place to fill two open Supervisor positions on the board. The Annual Meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. with recognition of several individuals, presentation of the 2023 Conservation Partner Award and election results.

The election is held in accordance with Chapters 940 of the Ohio Revised Code. Residents or landowners, firms, and corporations that own land or occupy land in Hardin County and are 18 years of age or older may vote for a supervisor. A non-resident landowner, firm, or corporation must provide an affidavit of eligibility, which includes designation of a voting representative, prior to casting a ballot.

Sherri Lynn Long Cullivan, age 60, of Ada, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at her mother’s home.  

She was born on January 5, 1963 to Larry Long and Doris E. “Dodie” Long.

Ohio Northern University and Mercy Health have announced a new strategic partnership to improve access to high quality health care on ONU’s campus. Under a new 10-year agreement, ONU’s Student Health Center will be staffed and managed by Mercy Health.

HARDIN COUNTY–There is a segment of agriculture in southeastern Hardin County that  specializes in commercial fruit and vegetable production. Hardin County is also home to the Scioto Valley Produce Auction near Mt. Victory where much of this produce is sold.

Hardin County OSU Extension has planned a Fruit and Vegetable Crop Walk program on Wednesday,  July 19 from 6:00-8:00 pm to help with fruit and vegetable production issues. The location of  the program will be on a produce farm at 17956 Township Road 245, Mt. Victory. It is open to  all fruit and vegetable producers, whether they are commercial or home gardeners.

PUBLIC NOTICE 

The Apollo Career Center Board of Education hereby gives public notice that Keith Horner, currently employed by the Apollo Career Center Board of Education as the superintendent, is retiring and seeking re-employment with the district in the  same position. The Board of Education proposes to re-employ Mr. Horner at its  regular meeting on Monday September 25, 2023.
