Glen Early served five terms as a Jackson Township trustee

Glen R. Early, 96, died on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015 at 3:30 p.m. at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton.

He was born on Aug. 19, 1919, in Allen County, Ohio to Schuyler C. and Josephine L. (Bundy) Early who preceded him in death. On Oct. 2, 1946 he married Mary H. Staley and she preceded him in death on March 8, 2007.

Glen was a lifelong farmer of Allen County, retiring at the age of 88. He was a member of the County Line Church of the Brethren, rural Ada. He was a 1938 graduate of Ada High School. Glen was a former Jackson Township Trustee, serving five terms over 21 years. His family considered him a “walking historian.”

He is survived by a brother, Lloyd Walter (Carolyn Woodward) Early of Jenera; 2 sisters-in-law, Betty Jolliff of LaFayette and Bettylou Early of San Tan Valley, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Early.

Funeral services will begin at noon on Monday, Oct. 5, at County Line Church of the Brethern at 4227 N. Hardin Road, Harrod, with Pastor Thomas Dearth and Pastor David Thompson officiating. Burial will be in LaFayette Cemetery, LaFayette. Arrangements are handled by Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada.

Friends may call two hours prior to the service on Monday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to noon at County Line Church of the Brethren, Harrod.
