From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Kenton

The Kenton Hardin Health Department will hold a drive-thru flu shot clinic this weekend. Check the map below for the traffic flow proceedure.

It is Saturday, Oct. 3, in the parking lot under the Health Department in Kenton and the hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Flue shots are given without persons leaving their vehicles.

About the Clinic:
• Masks required for the safety of staff and individuals.
• Vaccines available for ages 6 months and up.
• Personal insurance and Medicare accepted.
• Bring your driver’s license and insurance cards.
• High-dose flu vaccine available for persons 65 and older.

Jacob Bassitt is active in countless school and community activities

Jacob Bassitt, an Ada High School senior, is the October Mid-Ohio Energy Cooperative Ada student of the month.

Jacob is active in several school organizations including:
• Varsity Singers
• Ada HS swim team
• Ada HS Drama Club
• Ada HS student council vice-president
• Ada HS pep band

It takes everyone to keep the covid-19 pandemic at bay, including these two cowboys on the Remington Walk on the west end of the ONU campus. It appears that the Remington sculptures are aware of the issues of the day. (From ONU website)

But the average temperature of 64.8 was close to the the month's normal average

Icon viewers experienced a 49-degree temperature range in September, with a low of 38 degrees on Sept. 19 and a high of 87 degrees on Sept. 8.

Despite that wide temperature gap, the average September 2020 temperature was 64.8 degrees, compared to the normal average September temperature of 64.1, according to Guy Verhoff, U.S. weather observer in Pandora.

September 2020 had 1.58 inches of rain, lower than the normal September average of 2.96 inches. Only seven days in September registered either a trace or more of precipitation. The heaviest rain was 0.73 inches on Sept. 7, Labor Day.

13th consecutive year for this ONU honor

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's soccer program received the Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches for 2019-20.

This marks the 13th consecutive year that the Polar Bears were honored with the award by having a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Northern's 13 awards ties it with Baldwin Wallace for the most among Ohio Athletic Conference schools.

The Polar Bears finished 13-6-3 overall, 5-3-1 in the OAC and advanced to the NCAA III Tournament in 2019 under first-year head coach Chris Matejka.

That’s why he decided to pursue a career in strength and conditioning. His ultimate goal? To become a strength and conditioning coach for a Division I college football team.

Thanks to his networking expertise and determined efforts, he was able to try his dream on for size the summer before his senior year as a strength and conditioning intern for the University of Oregon football team.
