Ada’s oldest and longest-running festival, Farmers and Merchants Picnic will take this year off. The parade and other parts of the picnic are also canceled.
It’s another local victim of the covid-19 virus.
Instead, the Farmers and Merchants planning committee will hold a raffle with at least four major prizes, according to Eva Wolke. Those prizes range from a smoker grill and Keystone Meats gift card to a Kahili trip, a television and a firepit.
Complete details on the raffle will be on the Ada Icon next week as will ticket prices and locations where tickets are available.
Kenton Hardin Health Department Immunization Clinic Information
Kenton Hardin Health Department is now offering Iimmunization clinics on-site at 175 E. Franklin St., with an appointment required on Thursdays from 9-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. To make an appointment (419) 673- 6230.
Kenton Hardin Health Department will not offer outreach clinics in the community until further notice.
The following guidelines are enforced:
* All immunization clinic visitors are required to wear a face covering if over 2 years of age when entering the building, during the appointment until they exit the building after appointment.

Meri Skilliter, Ada school superintendent, posted the following letter on the school website concerning updates for the 2020-21 school year.
I hope this update finds you enjoying some of the wonderful things summertime has to offer. I know that details about what school will look like when we return are on many people’s minds.
The Board and I thank those who came to our meeting and spoke on this subject. While I, too, have many questions (and few answers yet), I wanted to at least let you know the timeline we hope to follow in getting our plan to you.
Burke O. Ziegler, 70, died on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at 7:26 p.m. at the Bridge Hospice Care Center of Findlay.
He was born on Oct. 7, 1949 in Kenton, Ohio, to the late George and Marjorie (Ford) Ziegler. On July 30, 1982 Burke married Peggy Kahler and she survives in Ada.
Burke was a lifelong farmer. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served during the Vietnam War. Burke was a member of the Farmers Bureau and the NRA. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing and working in his shop.
It was his wish to be cremated. Burial will be held at a later date in Huntersville Cemetery.
