Ada's latest news

By Monty Siekerman
Sometimes, this modern age (I'm talking technology here) gets the carriage before the horse.

First off, I want to thank the three ladies at Rite Aid in Ada for patiently helping me for 45 minutes try to print pictures of my recently deceased dog, Caesar.

We tried. We failed.

Remember not too many moons ago when you could buy roll of 400 ASA film, shoot 24 or so pictures, return to the store, drop off the film and, if you are lucky, get your prints back within 24 hours?

Not anymore.

Ada went from a green tote town to a blue tote town on Monday when trash service for most of the village changed from Waste Management to Republic Services. Republic brought 2,400 containers to Ada to begin pickup next Monday. (Monty Siekerman photo)

Leaf pick-up will be delayed this week, due to a problem with the vehicle that collects the leaves.

Ada Assistant Administrator Jamie Hall said the machine developed a leak in its radiator and is being serviced.

“We’re already getting some calls,” Hall said of the delays.  He said he expects the vehicle to be back in service before the end of the week.

Leaves are picked up Monday through Friday through November. (Amy Eddings photo)

The Ohio Northern women's basketball program returns a veteran squad for the 2015-16 season. Last season the Polar Bears went 20-6 and 16-2 in the OAC, claiming the OAC regular season crown.

Northern graduated four seniors from last year's team that made its 13th consecutive OAC Tournament appearance under head coach Michele Durand.

The Polar Bears welcome back 11 letter winners, all of whom saw considerable time a season ago.

Here's the breakdown of the 2015-16 women's basketball roster:
