Ohio Northern University student Steven Blake, a fourth-year pharmacy major, has been selected to receive a Goldwater Scholarship, the premier undergraduate award in the fields of mathematics, the natural sciences and engineering.

Michael Potter, a senior earning a dual degree in mechanical engineering and applied physics with minors in exercise physiology and astronomy, has received honorable mention accolades.

Students from Ohio Northern University’s T.J. Smull College of Engineering have created a team of robotic football players to compete in the annual University of Notre Dame robotic football competition on Friday, April 10, at 7 p.m. in the Ohio Northern University King Horn Sports Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Ada Icon's newest feature is a sports calendar. The monthly calendar includes all Ohio Northern University and Ada High School and Junior High athletic contests.

The Icon welcomes soccer groups, swim team and all other sport teams to submit your season calendars to be added to the Icon calendar.

Tara McBride, an attorney who practices in Columbus, Ohio, will discuss her personal experiences as a member of the transgender community and speak on other lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) issues in the Ohio Northern University McIntosh Ballroom on Wednesday, April 8, at 7 p.m.

The event, free and open to the public, is part of Unite for Awareness Week and is sponsored by the ONU Department of Psychology, Sociology, and Criminal Justice; ONU Open Doors, and LAMBDA in the Pettit College of Law.

Here's an architect's rendering of the $6 million Vancrest of Ada nursing home under construction will probably be completed by December. The 56,000-square-foot facility will have 50 beds for skilled nursing care and 32 assisted living units within the main facility. Rehab services will be available when it opens. Vancrest of Ada will employ 75 to 85 people.
The facility is under construction on West North Avenue (State Route 81), across from Ada schools.
