Randy Cox of Bluffton has been named administrator of Vancrest of Ada nursing home, which is now under construction across from the school and slated to open in February.
Cox has a long history in the nursing home business starting at an early age when his parents owned a nursing home in Ottawa.
He has worked in nursing homes in Virginia, Lima and a Vancrest facility in Holgate.
The 56,000-square-foot Ada facility, located on 18 acres, will have 50 beds for skilled nursing care and 32 assisted living units.
Mayor Dave Retter welcomes the new business, saying it will bring a significant number of jobs to the community.
ONU President Dr. Dan DiBiasio says the facility will provide university students with possible internships, practical hands-on experiences, and volunteer opportunities. It also will give nursing and pharmacy students opportunities for research and practical teaching opportunities.
Cox announced that those wanting to apply for a job or inquire about assisted living may call his office at 419-238-0715, extension 251, or email [email protected].
