Diner-judges and contestants are welcome at the 1st Alarm Chili Cook-Off at 6 p.m., Saturday, November 13 in Alger.
The event is hosted by the Alger Fire Department, 102 E Lee St, Alger. For $6, guests will taste and vote. They receive one bowl of chili with grilled cheese or peanut butter sandwich.
For those bringing a chili entry, there is a $10 fee. Chili should be brought ready to eat, in a crockpot. Please supply a list of ingredients. Participants’ identities will be kept secret until judging is complete.

The Ohio Northern men's basketball team opened its 2021-22 season with a 72-65 victory over a very good Saint John Fisher (N.Y.) squad in the opening game of the Case Western Reserve Bill Sidlack Tournament on Saturday night, November 6, at Horsburgh Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears (1-0 overall) will advance to the championship game on Sunday at 3 pm against either Case Western Reserve or Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
