College Credit Plus and Credit Flex meeting March 9
Ada High School will host a College Credit Plus and Credit Flex meeting at 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 9, in the auditorium for parents and students attending Ada junior high and senior high.
Students and parents are invited to attend the meeting to learn about the College Credit Plus program mandated by House Bill 487. The law allows high school students to enroll in college courses while enrolled in high school, if the student meets eligibility requirements set by the college or university.
Students may enroll during the school day or in the evening. If the student chooses to use the credit toward high school graduation, the cost of tuition, books, and fees will be paid by the high school.
In considering this option for next school year, students must evaluate academic records and career goals. Students must also consider credit requirements for high school graduation, consequences of failing a college course, scheduling, travel time, athletic eligibility, and other factors.
The credit flexibility program was included in Senate Bill 311 to allow students to customize aspects of their learning around their respective needs and interests. There are many advantages and disadvantages to both programs.
For additional information, contact the high school counselor, Erinn Prater at 419-634-2746.
College fair March 7
A meeting, sponsored by the Educational Service Center for Allen and surrounding county students, takes place at 6:30 p.m., Monday, March 7, at Rhodes State College, Lima. The event is in the Keese Hall Multipurpose Center.
After this session, there will be a college fair with University of Findlay, Ohio Northern University, The Ohio State University at Lima, Rhodes State College, University of Northwestern Ohio, and Wright State University-Lake Campus in attendance so that families can get information specific from each of these colleges and universities.
