With the United States’ 250th anniversary year underway in 2026, the Division of Wildlife requested the public’s help in a midwinter survey to count the national bird. Over 15 days, the agency received observations of 592 adult and 123 immature eagles.

Five free public events at the ONU Observatory will be hosted during the Spring 2026 semester. Dr. Jason Pinkney posts information about the events at https://jpastro.net/astro/publicevents.html

The first event is coming up on Friday, February 13. It is called "Jupiter Divides the Twins", referring to the way the planet Jupiter will be in the middle of the constellation Gemini.  Guests will be looking at Jupiter and its moons, as well as other celestial objects.
