VAN BUREN__The visiting Ada High School volleyball team lost a tough four-set battle to Van Buren in a Blanchard Valley Conference match on Wednesday, September 24.
The Bulldog girls dropped to 10-5 overall and 2-5 in the BVC with the 25-19, 25-13, 22-25, 25-14 defeat.
Van Buren improved to 13-3 overall and 4-2 in BVC play after the four-set win.
Junior Brooklynn Andreasen led Ada with 13 kills. She also served four aces and came up with two blocks.

When I hear the term “make some noise,” I think of Cleveland Guardian games or The Ohio State University Buckeye football games when the opposing team is attempting to complete a third down play.

In the publication's 2026 Best Regional Colleges Midwest list, ONU is ranked #1 in the overall rankings (up from #2 last year). ONU also ranked #1 in Best Value Schools and #1 for Best College for Veterans in the Midwest college rankings.
Sheri L. Woodland, age 59, of Ada, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born on December 25, 1965 in Lima, Ohio to the late Jerry and Lois (Myers) Mathewson. On August 15, 1996 Sheri married John Woodland and he survives in Ada.
Also surviving are her two sons: Justin Mathewson of Sandusky and Jarod (Jessie) Woodland of Van Wert; and a sister, Karen (Rick) Smith of LaFayette.
She was preceded in death by her niece, Kim Smith.
On Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 8 p.m., Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror (1922 silent film) will be presented with a live score by Tom Roberts at Presser Hall on the campus of Ohio Northern University. This early gothic horror film was produced in Germany and directed by F. W. Murnau. See Facebook event.
