Ohio Northern University pair selected as STEM Exemplars
Terry Keiser, Ohio Northern University’s director of sustainability and professor of biological sciences, and Dr. Robert K. McAfee, ONU assistant professor of human anatomy, were selected as Believe in Ohio science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) Exemplars, by the Ohio Academy of Science.
The two, along with 81 others, will serve as role models for students to encourage them to pursue STEM careers and become entrepreneurs and innovators. Honorees are graduates of Ohio high schools, have attended higher education in Ohio or elsewhere, and are now gainfully employed or retired in a STEM field in Ohio.
Those selected were chosen because they embody believing in Ohio from a STEM workforce perspective.
Believe in Ohio is a student STEM entrepreneurship program of the Ohio Academy of Science, in cooperation with Entrepreneurial Engagement in Ohio, and funded by the Ohio General Assembly through the Ohio Board of Regents.
This program encourages Ohio’s next generation to pursue their futures in Ohio by inventing products and services through the application of science, technology and engineering.
