Whatever happened to the efforts to have a dog park in Ada? Jimmy Wilson attended the park board monthly meeting on Monday night to say he was willing to take leadership to make the proposed park become a reality.

Wilson, a business professor and former village councilman, learned that a couple of years ago, the park board agreed to dedicate some land for a dog park. The property is located near the end of East Lehr Avenue, north of the horse arena.

He learned that the village offered two good-sized trees for the park. The hardwood trees have been planted and are growing to provide shade.

He learned that the cost of a fence for an area 100 feet by 100 feet would be about $10,000.

He learned that earlier fundraising garnered about $800 toward that goal.
Board members encouraged him to take leadership of the project and help it become a reality.

He said he'd return to the next board meeting with a plan to proceed, especially in the area of raising funds.
