Dayton Howard was retired from Ford Motor, Lima
Dayton Howard, 77, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at 12:08 a.m. at the Cridersville Healthcare Center, Cridersville.
Dayton was born on Nov. 19, 1938 in McGuffey, Ohio, to Ira and Elizabeth “Ezza” (Allen) Howard who preceded him in death. He married Dolores A. Hattery on June 5, 1960, and she died on Dec. 22, 2015.
Dayton retired from Ford Motor Company of Lima. He attended the Lima Baptist Temple. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the 6th Infantry Unit from December of 1961 to December of 1963. He was a life member of the VFW Post.
Surviving are his three brothers: Ed Howard of N. Dakota, Robert (Judy) Howard of Lakeview and Ronnie (Sandy) Howard of Williamstown; a niece, Deni (Dale) Hopwood of Missouri; great niece and nephews: Kent Hopwood, Cori Hopwood, Kirk Dayton Hopwood, and Clint Hopwood who immensely loved their beloved Poppy.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Dallas Howard and Hayden Howard; and three sisters: Myrtle Johns, Susan Howard and Virgie Lafferty.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 27, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Pastor Gary Hohman officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger, with graveside military rites being conducted by the Ada VFW Post #9381 of Ada.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home on Monday, June 27.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor’s choice.
