Paul Cramer was principal at Ada High School for nine years
Paul H. Cramer, Jr., 82, died on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at 3:15 a.m. at Blanchard Place in Kenton, Ohio.
He was born on Oct. 19, 1923 in Lima, Ohio, to Rev. Paul H. and Mildred (Hullinger) Cramer who preceded him in death. His stepmother was Edna Christmer Cramer who also preceded him in death. He married Patsy Cox Cramer on Dec. 7, 1956 and she died on March 22, 1988.
Mr. Cramer retired as Superintendent of Fostoria City Schools in 1984. He was a broker with Century 21 Sunway Realty in Ada and Bluffton until his retirement in 1998. He also owned Cramer’s Income Tax Service & Paul Cramer & Associates Real Estate in Ada.
He graduated from Bluffton High School in 1951 and served three years, nine months and 10 days in the United State Air Force as an aerial gunner in B-36s. He received a Bachelor's Degree from Ohio Northern University and a Master in Education from Bowling Green State University. He also had additional course work at the University of Dayton and The Ohio State University.
He taught and coached football at Waynesfield-Goshen Local Schools. He served as Local Superintendent of the Huntsville Local Schools. He was a Field Associate with the Mid-west Program on Airborne Television Instruction, serving the northern 44 counties of Ohio. He served as High School Principal of Ada High School for 9 years.
He was Superintendent of Bluffton Exempted Village Schools for 2 years and until his retirement from education served for 7 years in the Fostoria City School System. He served as a substitute van driver for the Hardin County Council on Aging.
Mr. Cramer was a member of the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Ada Lions Club, American Legion and the Masonic Lodge. He had belonged to the Bluffton and Fostoria Lions Club and the Ada Rotary Club. He had been the Treasurer of the ‘N’ Mens’s Alumni Association for over 15 years.
Paul is survived by two sons: Michael Paul (Gayle) Cramer of St. James, Mo., and Scott (Melissa) Cramer of Lancaster, Pa.; two grandsons and a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Cramer.
Funeral services will begin at noon on Wednesday, June 29, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Pastor Jeff Waite officiating. Burial will be in Roundhead Cemetery, Roundhead, with graveside military services being conducted by the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, June 29, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the Donor’s Choice.
