Lady Bulldog spikers start with sweep
By Cort Reynolds
WAYNESFIELD - The Ada volleyball team tipped off its 2016 campaign with a
convincing sweep of non-league local rivals Waynesfield-Goshen and
Cory-Rawson in a tri-match Saturday.
The matches were originally scheduled to be played at Ada, but had to be
moved to W-G since re-surfacing of the Bulldog varsity gym floor is still
being completed.
The Lady Bulldogs (2-0) stomped the host Tigers first 25-6, 25-16. Junior
hitter Melina Woods collected six kills, eight digs and served three aces.
Junior setter/hitter Maddie Gossard dealt out 10 assists and served a pair
of aces. Senior Haley Wyss also served up two aces.
In their second match of the day, Ada crushed Cory 25-4, 25-11. Freshman
setter Sidney Gossard served up 10 aces and passed out four assists.
The versatile Woods made four digs, hit three kills, served three aces and
added a dig. Wyss dealt two aces and hit for a pair of kills.
Junior libero Olivia Alexander hustled up seven digs. Maddie Gossard
passed out three assists and added three kills.
Ada visits always-tough MAC foe St. Henry Monday, and then hosts local
arch-rival USV Tuesday in the junior high gym.
