Scholarships from National Community Pharmacists Association Foundation
Ohio Northern University sixth-year pharmacy students Emily Ickes and Brittiany Feher recently earned prestigious National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) Foundation Scholarships. Ickes received the NCPA Foundation J.C. and Rheba Cobb Memorial Scholarship, and Feher was awarded an NCPA Foundation Presidential Scholarship. In addition to the $2,000 scholarships, the two students are invited to attend the organization’s annual conference in New Orleans, La., in October, where they will be recognized during an awards ceremony.
Criteria for the Cobb Memorial Scholarship include demonstrated interest in government affairs, leadership qualities and academic achievement. Only one Cobb scholarship is given nationally each year. Criteria for the Presidential Scholarship include leadership qualities and academic achievement.
Ickes is a graduate of Hillsdale High School in Jeromesville, Ohio, and Feher graduated from Buckeye Local High School in Adena, Ohio. Both students are members of the ONU NCPA Student Chapter.
“Both scholarships recognize the leadership strength of Emily and Brittany and their commitment to the profession. These also reflect the incredible mentorship of Dee Dee Myers, the NCPA faculty adviser. Professor Myers takes a personal interest in the personal development and professional growth of her chapter members. ONU continues to be a great place to launch a successful career in pharmacy, and Emily and Brittiany exemplify this success,” said Steven J. Martin, dean of ONU’s Raabe College of Pharmacy.
