Volleyball team shuts out Spencerville; Abbie James top Ada runner at Galion

SPENCERVILLE - The visiting Ada girls soccer squad shut out Spencerville 2-0 Saturday morning in a Northwest Conference contest.

The Lady Bulldogs improved to 3-4-1 overall and 2-0 in the NWC with their second straight shutout win.

Ada tallied a goal in each half and out-shot the hosts 16-6 to post the win. Keeper Rielyn Castle made six saves in goal and posted her third shutout of the season.

Makayla Callahan scored a goal and assisted on the other Bulldog score. Kaitlyn Long netted a goal while Latifah Bagais added an assist.

Ada visits league foe Delphos Jefferson Monday, Sept. 19.

James tops Ada harriers at Galion

GALION - The Ada cross country team competed at the big Galion Invitational Saturday morning.

Freshman ace Abbie James led the Ada girls to 22nd place out of 27 teams. James finished 30th in the field of 183 girl runners in a time of 21:10.05.

Senior Eric Armbrecht led the Bulldog boys, finishing 119th out of 189 runners in a time of 19:59.8. The Ada boys finished 26th out of 28 teams.

Andrew Robey sat out the Galion race due to a leg injury, but is expected to compete next Saturday. Ada runs at the Van Wert Invitational on Saturday, September 24 at 8 a.m.
