ONU women's tennis team improves to 5-0

The Ohio Northern women's tennis team improved to 5-0 on the season with a 9-0 victory over Defiance and an 8-1 win over Concordia (Mich.) on Tuesday afternoon at Dix Tennis Courts in Defiance.
Against, Defiance, freshman Mackenzie Wills led the way for ONU as she posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles and teamed up with senior Brittany Toney to win 8-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Freshmen Katherine Curry, Kaleigh Cummins, Jordan Dodson, and Jacey Higbie also posted 6-0, 6-0 shutout victories at Nos. 3, 4, 5, and 6 sigles, respectively.
Sophomore Ashley Ochsenhirt posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles for Northern and teamed up with freshman Ola Latala to win 8-1 at No. 1 doubles.
Curry and junior Kirsten Adamson would complete the sweep with an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Against Concordia, Ochsenhirt and Latala won 8-0 ast No. 1 doubles and 6-0, 6-0 at Nos. 1 and 2 singles to pace Ohio Northern.
Toney and Wills also won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles as ONU led 2-1 heading into singles.
Wills, Curry, Toney and Cummings all won their singles matches in straight sets at Nos. 3, 4, 5 and 6, respectively.
The Polar Bears will return to action Saturday as they travel to Trine (Ind.) at 10 am.
