STEAM on the Quad registration is now open
Registration for Ohio State’s STEAM on the Quad is now open.
STEAM on the Quad is a new, family-friendly event where kids in grades K-12 will be able to do hands-on activities that will improve their knowledge and interest in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math fields. It will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, on the Ohio State Lima Quad.
STEAM on the Quad is a collaborative project between The Ohio State University at Lima and OSU Extension and is supported in part by the Ohio 4-H Foundation.
The 4-H programs of Hardin, Putnam, and Allen County will host activities that feature Bluetooth sports, circuitry, Lego zip lines and sumo wrestling, virtual reality goggles, digital graphics tables, solar panels, sculpture building, hovercrafts and sewing. Community partners include the Allen County Soil and Water Conservation District, ArtSpace/Lima, YWCA Child Care, the Neil Armstrong Museum and the Lima YMCA Bean City Bots Robotics Team.
The Ohio State Lima departments of education, engineering, biology and police will also be engaging students on the Quad with a variety of projects, including nature walks in the Tecumseh Natural Area, theatre, forensics, puppetry, and a table dedicated to making Buckeye necklaces.
There is no cost to participate for students and their families. Food will be available for purchase on the grounds.
