On September 18, during the Harvest and Herb Festival, the Ada Athletic Boosters will be holding a cornhole tournament for all ages at the Ada Train Depot, 9 Central Ave.

The tournament begins at noon with check-in from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Entry fees are $20 for a student team of 2 (Ada or ONU students) and $40 for an adult team of 2.

The tournament is double elimination. Games to 21 with no bust. 1st place winners will receive 25% of the total entry fees and a trophy.

Multiple raffle baskets will be available at the event. All proceeds go to supporting student athletes and athletic programs. Ada VFW Post 9381 is the tournament sponsor.

The visiting Ada girls soccer team, playing their first game in eight days, fell 8-0 to Liberty-Benton in the North Central Ohio Soccer Association opener Wednesday night, September 8.

The Ada record dropped to 2-3-1 overall and 0-1 in NCOSA play with the defeat. L-B improved to 5-2 and 1-0 in NCOSA action after the win.

The Lady Bulldogs trailed 4-0 at halftime. L-B netted four more goals in the second half.

The Ada girls play at Upper Sandusky (3-1-1) in another NCOSA battle Saturday evening, Sept. 11. The match is the opener of a varsity girls and boys Ada vs. US doubleheader starting at 5 p.m.

The Ada golf team swept a three-team non-conference match Wednesday evening, September 8, at the Bluffton Golf Course.

Ada won with 208 strokes, defeating Riverdale (223) and Arlington (238) convincingly.

Bulldog senior Andrew Rush was match medalist with a round of 49. Classmate Dexter Woods contributed a score of 51. Junior Geddes Klingler and sophomore Jack Baumgartner each carded rounds of 54.

Senior Kamron Wilkerson also registered a 62, and freshman Wyatt Ferguson shot 76.

Ada improved to 8-18 with the wins.

The Bulldogs play an NWC tri-match Monday, Sept. 13 at Delphos Jefferson with Lincolnview.

Troy Warren Caskie, 31, of Ada passed away September 6, 2021 at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay. Troy was born October 11, 1989 in Bluffton to Dan and Renee (Moser) Caskie. On August 1, 2009 he married Jessie Melton Caskie.

Troy was a graduate of Cory-Rawson High School and worked for J & D Snyder Excavating, Bluffton. Troy was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bluffton. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing, playing corn hole and was a "Grill Master" in training. Troy was a family man whose greatest joy was spending time with his wife and family.

During the months of September and October 2021, Alpha Sigma Phi will be holding a "couch drive" to collect furniture and mechanical equipment in good condition for donation to the Lima branch of Habitat for Humanity.

Proceeds will go towards funding the next house that Habitat builds, as well as support the Lima Restore.

The Ada golf team played in a four-team Northwest Conference match Tuesday evening at the Bluffton Golf Course.

Delphos Jeff edged Ada 201-204, and the Bulldogs also fell to unbeaten NWC leader Lincolnview 163-204.

The Pirates beat Delphos Jefferson 170-201, but lost to Lincolnview 163-170.

Senior Andrew Rush led Ada with a round of 48. Classmate Dexter Woods tallied a score of 49. Junior Geddes Klingler registered a score of 53, and sophomore Jack Baumgartner added a 54. 

Senior Kamron Wilkerson posted a 60, and freshman Wyatt Ferguson shot 72 to round out the Ada effort.
