ONU Marching Band concert to feature selections from the 2016 season
The Ohio Northern University Marching Band will present a concert featuring its music from the 2016 season at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30 in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts. Admission is $20 for adults, $15 or faculty and staff members, and $5 for students and children. Tickets are available at the Freed Center box office between noon and 5 p.m. on Friday and can also be obtained online at www.FreedCenter.com or by calling (419) 772-1900. Tickets are also available prior to the performance.
The ONU marching band, “The Star of Northwest Ohio,” will perform a variety of dance music from its premiere show, “Let’s Dance.” Concert-goers will hear the fast and exciting classical hit “Danza Final” by Argentinian composer Alberto Ginastera. Audience members will also experience the regal and majestic side of music as the band performs the stately “Minuet in G” by Beethoven. Among other selections are “You Should be Dancing” and “Footloose.”
Student soloists include Curtis Clark, a junior music performance major on saxophone, who will perform “Send in the Clowns.” Christian “C.J.” Livengood will sing Michael Buble’s “Sway,” Brayden Dunn will perform on the harmonica, and Adam Grim will demonstrate his artistry as a music arranger. Also, Dr. Adriane Thompson-Bradshaw, vice president for student affairs, will join the band for a performance of Adele Adkins’ hit, “Hello.”
The ONU band is led by field conductors Suzy Young and Christian Livengood. Teal Clay and Keilara Halterman are the guard captains, and Tyler Overy is the twirler captain. The drumline captain is Brayden Dunn. The auxiliaries are directed by Caroline Mangan and Amanda Raines, and the band is under the direction of Dr. Charles Bates.
