Louis Earl Corbet 1930 - 2016
Louis Earl Corbet, 86, our beloved father and grandfather died on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016.
He was born on July 7, 1930, son of the late Harry and Mary (Carle) Corbet in Lima, Ohio.
He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Nuremberg, Germany, during the Korean War Conflict. Louis married Phyllis Allen on Jan. 9, 1954, she predeceased him on Jan. 9, 2010.
He moved his family to Saginaw from Ohio in 1962 and worked as a Union Carpenter for many years. Even after retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, attending craft shows, spending Winters in Florida and traveling with Phyllis, gardening and attending train shows with an interest in steam engines. Louis loved his family and was a great teacher of many skills to his children and grandson Bryan. He included them in many handy projects around the house. He loved pets and always had a dog.
He is survived by one daughter, Susan Corbet; one son, Tim Corbet (Jan Harris) and one grandson, Bryan Corbet; his brother, Herbert (Bev) Corbet of Ohio; special friends, Bob and Wilma Elder and Marvin and Shirley of Pennsylvania.
He was predeceased by his brother, Fred Corbet; his sisters, Donna Young and Jean Fraunfelter. The Corbet family would like to extend their appreciation to Covenant VNA Hospice and McBrite Manor/Wellspring Lutheran Services.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, Dec. 18, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at W. L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw, Mich.
Friends may also call on Monday, Dec. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger with Pastor Mark Andreasen officiating. Burial will be in Auglaize Cemetery, Harrod.
Graveside Military service will be conducted by the Ada VFW Post #9381.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider
the American Cancer Society and/or HIS Restoration Ministries.
