Britt Lauck leads #10 Women's Basketball past Marietta
MARIETTA — Senior Britt Lauck (Lima/Shawnee) tied her career-high with 21 points, leading No. 10-ranked Ohio Northern to a 79-65 Ohio Athletic Conference women's basketball victory at Marietta on Saturday at Ban Johnson Fieldhouse.
The Polar Bears remain undefeated at 13-0 overall and stay atop the OAC with a 6-0 league record, while the Pioneers fall to 7-6, 1-5.
Junior Amy Bullimore (Morrow/Little Miami) and freshman Emily Mescher (Maria Stein/Marion Local) each added 14 points each for ONU.
Northern used a 10-0 run at the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second quarter to take the lead for good at 22-12 with 7:06 left in the half.
Lauck made a 3-pointer and junior Lindsey Black (Urbana/Graham) followed with a 3-point play to give ONU a 28-14 lead with 4:12 left in the half.
The lead grew to 36-18 before MC pulled with 36-22 at halftime.
Northern led comfortably the rest of the way, with the Pioneers only getting within eight points on one occasion early in the fourth quarter.
Ohio Northern made 28-of-60 field goal attempts for 46.7 percent and was 7-of-16 from 3-point range for 43.8 percent, while Marietta was 23-of-64 from the floor for 35.9 percent and was 9-of-24 from three for 37.5 percent.
ONU out-rebounded MC 42-33.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Wednesday with a 7:30 pm contest at Baldwin Wallace.
