ONU football team opens 2017 season at Adrian
ADA — The Ohio Northern football team will open its 122nd year of competition on Sept. 2 with a road contest at Adrian (Mich.) under 14th-year head coach Dean Paul.
After scrimmaging each season for the past 23 years, the Polar Bears and the Bulldogs will compete for the first time in a varsity contest since 1989.
Northern will then return home for its home opener with Heidelberg on Sept. 16 at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
ONU will then entertain Otterbein on Sept. 23 as part of Homecoming Weekend.
The Polar Bears will also host Capital on Oct. 7, Marietta on Oct. 28 and Baldwin Wallace on Nov. 11 to wrap up the regular season on Senior Day.
Additional road games for ONU feature tilts at John Carroll on Oct. 14, at Muskingum on Oct. 21 and at Wilmington on Nov. 4.
The Polar Bears posted a 5-5 overall record and posted its 20th upper division finish in the OAC in the last 21 seasons, tying for fourth place in the 10-team league with a 5-4 record.
