ONU wrestlers in Pennsylvania tri-match

No. 20-ranked Ohio Northern posted a 22-20 victory over Springfield (Mass.) and a 26-12 victory over Oswego State (N.Y.) and finished 2-1 in pool play of the Lycoming (Pa.) Invitational on Friday at Lamade Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears improve to 7-1 overall and finished 2-1 in Pool B action. They fell to No. 25 York (Pa.) 32-10 in the final match of the day. Ohio Northern finishes second in the pool and will compete with the other second place finishers for places 5-8 in the 16-team tournament on Saturday. Against Springfield, Northern won three consecutive matches by pin, major decision and tech fall to grab a 22-11 lead, then held on in the final two bouts to pick up the victory.
Leading 9-6, ONU again won threee straight to enxted its lead over Oswego to 20-6. Against York, ONU got wins at 149 and 184, but gave up first period pins at 197 and 285 to end the match.
Five Polar Bears posted 2-1 records on the day.
Junior Seth Meyer (Defiance) picked up a quick pin in just 48 seconds and won once by decision to go 2-1 on the day at 165 pounds.
Senior Kyler Deeter (Covington) posted a tech fall and a major decision and went 2-1 at 174 pounds.
Freshman Aidan Pierobon (Rochester Hills, Mich./Stoney Creek) was 2-1 with a pin and a major decision at 141 pounds.
Junior Alex Bair (Covington) went 2-1 on the day, competing at multiple weight classes. He got a pin at 184 pounds against York and went 1-1 at 197 pounds in the first two matches of the day.
Freshman Seth Transue (Plain City/Dublin) was 2-1 at 125 pounds with a pair of decisions.
