DELPHOS - Ada senior guard Haley Wyss was named first team All-Northwest Conference in girls basketball by the league coaches in voting conducted recently at Delphos.
Wyss led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring (14.5 ppg), assists, free throws and three-point field goals. Coming on strong in the second half of the campaign, she topped Ada in scoring in 14 of their 23 games, including the last six in a row.
Wyss also topped Ada in scoring in six of their eight NWC games, with a high of 24 vs. Lincolnview. In conference play, she averaged 13 points per game. Her overall season-high of 26 points came Feb. 14 against Fostoria.
The Lady Bulldogs finished 7-16 overall and 1-7 in the NWC. Wyss made honorable mention all-league in 2016 as a junior.
Columbus Grove junior post player Paige Bellman was selected as the 2016-17 NWC Player of the Year by the NWC girls basketball coaches.
Bellman was a unanimous selection by the coaches in balloting as she received the maximum of 120 points. Last yearís NWC player of the year, senior Jade Clement of Grove, finished second in the balloting with 110 points.
