Ohio Northern's men take second place at the Joe Banks Invitational
The Ohio Northern men's track and field team took second place Saturday afternoon as it competed in the annual Joe Banks Invitational at the ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse.
Junior Matt Molinaro (Sterling Heights, Mich./DeLaSalle) posted a new meet record in the 800-meter run, finishing in 1:54.39 to lead Northern.
In the weight throw, senior Lucas Shumate(Wapakoneta/Spencerville) took first place with a toss of 57' 6.25".
The team of seniors Kase Schalois (Van Wert), Cully Gordon (Holmesville/West Holmes), juniors Samuel Boyd(Killbuck/West Holmes) and Bobby Borger(Perrysburg) set a new Joe Banks Invitational record in the distance medley relay by nearly ten seconds in 10:40.69.
"We had a lot of good things happen today for our men," said head coach Jason Maus. "The guys are really starting to build some momentum and things are really starting to come together."
The Polar Bears return to the track Saturday as they travel to Westerville to compete in the All-Ohio Championships.
